Daily consolidated services across a Europe-wide hub-to-hub rail and river transport network for road haulers and freight forwarders.
We assist and advise our customers with the modal shift from road to rail or river, proposing solutions which are immediately available “off-the-shelf” with an innovative support service which has a positive impact on the environment and your economic performance.
Our intermodal transport solutions reduce CO2 emissions by 85% and lessen road congestion and accidents. They offer excellent value for money and high load capability thanks to our scheduled daily services and optimal use of our resources (wagons and terminals).
We combine at least two modes of transport in the same chain in which there are no breaks in goods loading and the majority of which is done by rail or river transport. The journey travelled by road is generally short distance for the first and last few kilometres guaranteeing local pick-ups and deliveries using your own resources.
Starting from or going to an interconnected combined terminal, we handle the loading and unloading of your units (containers, swap bodies, tankers, semi-trailers*) on to the trains operated by our services on the domestic and international markets. Our comprehensive transport schedule provides a daily link between the main European cities and countries such as Paris, Lyons, Marseilles, Rotterdam, the Benelux, Scandinavia, the UK, northern Italy and Germany. A total of 6,600 trains run each year between the main terminals in our network.

Each and every day, Greenmodal Transport is committed to meeting your containerised transport requirements by barge whether consolidated or spot. Our services guarantee five scheduled departures a week on the Seine between Le Havre and Gennevilliers, two of which cover Rouen, and two scheduled departures a week on the Rhône (with trips northwards on the Saône to Mâcon). We help to simplify any customs formalities - i.e. clearing Sycoscan and phytosanitary requirements, interzone transit (DTIZ) - to facilitate the modal shift. We are a certified “Approved Economic Operator - AEO” and we work with terminals and depots accredited as “Temporary Storage Facilities – TSFs” for goods storage under customs authority.
Our seven self-propelled barges serve the inland ports of Gennevilliers, Lyons and Mâcon and the seaports of Rouen, Fos and Le Havre, on a transport schedule that covers 750 km of navigable waterways in France.
Intermodal transport uses innovative technologies such as on-line booking and on-line tracking for your peace of mind, free of all the ins and outs of transport logistics.
