The Energy Savings Certificates (ESC) system, set up in 2006, is one of the main instruments of energy demand control policy and an excellent means of rewarding the efforts of hauliers financially and without dipping into public funds in terms of energy savings and reduction of their carbon footprint.

The ADEME also aids transport operators and shippers to finance and conduct economic, technical and organisational feasibility studies on an eventual modal shift.

Through a direct subsidy, the ADEME aids transport firms, CT operators, shippers and equipment lease firms in the purchase of rolling stock (swap bodies, cranable semi-trailers) and transshipment equipment (reserved for shippers).
